An Indian school teacher has been granted the 2020 Worldwide Teacher Prize – and has pledged to give half of the $1 million prize cash to the other participants.

Ranjitsinh Disale, a teacher at Zilla Parishad Grade School, in the town of Paritewadi in the western Indian province of Maharashtra, was picked as victor from in excess of 12,000 designations and applications, from more than 140 nations around the globe
The honor, which is controlled by the Varkey Establishment in organization with UNESCO, celebrates “uncommon” teachers who have made an exceptional commitment to their calling.
Disale told in an interview that he would share the prize with the other nine finalists, giving them $55,000 each — the first time anyone has done so in the award’s six-year history.
